For Business. And Yourself.

Part of In Your Place residency with Kunstverien Hildesheim, 2006

Projection

The Dorint Novotel Hildesheim occupies the building that was, until 1976, a hospital famous for its contribution to the progress of nineteenth century psychiatric medicine in Germany. Left in a state of disrepair for over twenty years, the property was finally sold to developers in the late 1990s. Part of this deal included a contribution of seven million euros from Hildesheim city council towards a public venue within the development. This public space has yet to materialise.

In an effort to quietly negotiate the contested distinction between private and public space, a private hotel room in the Dorint Novotel was booked and paid for by the Kunstverein Hildesheim. For the duration of one night, a live web link projected the room and its occupant onto a shop fa├žade in the town centre.
