Featuring House
Site specific video installation
Walthamstow, London
September 2006

An invited and passing audience gather at the front of a house that sits on the edge of London. Commuter Trains bisect the open terrain of filter beds and marshland, Canary Wharf flickers on the distant horizon. As the long summer evening draws on, one window reflects the sun as it sets over the reservoirs, a real time projection clinging to the last of the day’s light. Visitors share tea and cake and chat as darkness falls and the house is gradually subsumed by the landscape.

A collaboration with Frances Bowman and Carl Fraser this work continued our exploration of the house as a cinema. Part of the Walthamstow annual art festival, we created an auditorium within the front garden, creating an anticipation and event through ‘staging’ the house.
